Which of course it has snowed two years in a row now. But not this time!
First order of business: #1106 Petfinder/Desert Dawgs deserve a big congratulations for their flawless run! It has been a pleasure to see this car grow and get better and better. They worked hard for this win, and deserve that first place trophy! Jerry iron-manned the six lap race against four other Class 11’s – that’s right, there were FIVE class 11’s in this years Yerington 300.
Secondly, we are pleased to report that TLR customer CBCFS Racing’s #1116 took second place. The guys are some of the youngest guys on the track, if not the youngest in the Class 11 group overall, and it’s great to see them out there doing well. They broke a tie rod, popped off an oil line, and lost their skid pan and bumper, but with true racer spirit they persevered and earned their placement.
Unfortunately the Desert Dingos #1106 suffered some mishaps during this race, including oil leaks, someone sideswiping them while they were on the side of the road, and ultimately tranny related failures. You can read their race review here. They did make one lap around, which secured third place for the Desert Dingos. The new team to VORRA, TnT Racing #1115, unfortunately only made it 35 miles out before they suffered catastrophic engine failure with a broken piston. They secured fourth with a DNF that went farther mileage-wise than Meek Racing #1142, who suffered an engine fire. No one was hurt in the fire. It was determined later that a short due to the alternator post coming loose was the culprit. They are in good spirits, however, and will return for the VORRA Fallon 250 night race.
It was a great turnout for VORRA with 57 entries spanning many classes. Some recognizable names who never disappoint were Mike Koenig (GT), Rod Hall (Full Metal), Sam Berri (C1, whose car sported a “For Sale” sign), Sam Cothrun (GT), Wes Harbour (C10, who crossed the line sans the driver’s front wheel and everything that goes with it), Don German (GT), Bonz Kudrna (C10), Clayton Scudder (C1), Ryan Sargent (C1), and so many more that it was great to see again. TLR would like to offer special congratulations to Team Myres #863 and their second place in Full Metal. You might remember them from their accident in 2011 where both driver and passenger were seriously injured and paralyzed. They have made an amazing recovery, and have been truly inspirational to so many. They are now back doing what they love.
