TLR had the pleasure of taking the Green Booger to one of our largest local car shows in late 2012, the Auburn Cruise Night finale. You can read more about that HERE.
At this car show, we saw an interesting little race car, and met the pretty cool owner of it. Steve Heckert was kind enough to give us a history on his cute little buggy, and he actually still races it in NORRA in the vintage class. You can read the information he provided TLR about the Burro here. Additionally, he provided vintage photos of VORRA racers in the 1970’s. If you recognize anyone in the photo, please contact TLR and we would love to add that information here.
Please note – all photos and Burro documentation has been generously provided by Steve Heckert.
From Steve: “Our first race buggy was a Chenowth class 2 car with an 1835cc, that is the silver bodied two seater you see in the pics. The second race car we built for ourselves was a Chenowth 1000 SS with a SCAT 2234cc motor. We ran that car in the late 70s to about 1985 then it was sold. We owned a buggy shop in Loomis, CA called TRM Racing, this was from 1975 to the early to mid 80s. We sponsored the VORRA series a couple of seasons and gave a Chenowth chassis to the overall points champion. The pics are from Prairie City, Marysville, Weeks NV & Argyle Park in Dixon. In one of the pics you will see a young Ed Robinson handing a trophy to me at one of the short course races.”
