Once again the VORRA family met for the annual driver’s meeting and awards ceremony held this weekend in South Lake Tahoe, NV. This year we celebrated our 2012 season, and the room was filled with great stories of racing gleaned from this season’s races (and seasons previous as well), technical information swapping, and a general good time. The banquet itself presented delicious food with a comfortable atmosphere, even though it’s generally difficult to recognize each other without fire suits and silt baths. The awards commenced with light-hearted humor, though I believe that Ryan Sargent (Class 1) deserves the notoriety for the memorable quote of the night. A special congratulations to Meek Racing for their Class 11 Season Championship for the 2012 VORRA season. This was their first year racing in their class 11, and we are so very pleased to have such great new members of the Class 11 VORRA family.
After the awards, a large group of VORRA members made their way to Cabo Wabo for an extension of the celebration. We had such a wonderful time discussing the finer points of racing, swapping stories, and just generally socializing and laughing with the great people of this association. We are generally moving too fast fueling up and fixing our cars for lengthy discussions! We are so pleased to be a part of such an accepting and friendly group. One particularly humorous memory are the foreign couple who were taking their photograph next to the buffet restaurant sign because they thought Jimmy Buffet came to town. We assumed they liked to Karaoke Margaritaville. We’ll blame that one on the language barrier issue. For a few more photos, please visit our Facebook albumĀ HERE.
