Two Larry’s takes second at Yerington!

The Yerington 300 was quite an epic event for Two Larrys Racing. Starting the weekend with the Last Minute Larry preparation habit that has earned us limited sleep time and again, we made the trip safely and the car was ready to roll. At the race, we were once again greeted by friendly VORRA officials and equally friendly race participants. After Tech and the driver’s meeting on Saturday, the parade of competing cars proved to be a major town event and quite popular. On race day, Two Larrys started the race with the promising shower of gravel and desert dirt upon Class 11 windshield-deficient #1177 (Bob Messer and his co-driving wife, who proved to have a great attitude about their now pebbled interior). Soon afterwards, #1112 experienced a series of technical mishaps, such as a blown rotor, a disconnected ground for the oil fan, a broken float, a plugged main jet, and the customary overheating that accompanies with the aforementioned.

One aspect of VORRA definitely worth mentioning is the friendliness and the caring of racers and officials alike. Numerous competitors slowed their cars and trucks to question our well-being, and VORRA was helpful to our pit in finding our location. We managed to bring the car back around with a little “McGyvering,” as Richard Palasik (#1107) coined it, and finish a second lap before calling it quits to save our car for the coming race in three weeks. It is unfortunate to learn that Bob Messer and clan (#1177) were not able to finish as well, and we wish them the best in getting back into competition. A huge congratulations to Richard Palasik and the Desert Dingos, #1107, on their desert win. A more deserving crew we cannot state, and they again proved to be excellent company before, during, and after the race. A special thank you to VORRA and their great officials and for bringing such wonderful opportunities and experiences to racing enthusiasts.
