Booger Bits

So it’s been quite some time since we’ve given you an update, and Two Larrys thinks you definitely deserve one. That’s right…the Green Booger is back on track and getting ready to roll for the 2012 SNORE Battle at Primm, in Primm, NV on February 23-26, 2012. You may recall the devastating roll cage failure in the rear hoop on the Booger in July’s VORRA Master Pull USA 500…at mile 113 (during the second lap of the race…so 356 miles total) and ahead of schedule and competitors, the Booger’s rear cage gave way due to fatigued roll cage and overheated chromoly. It sheared in the middle of the bar, not at a weld. This finished our 2011 season and put the Booger up until 2012.

But now she’s back, and better than ever. We have been working on cutting the rear hoop of the cage out and installing a similarly-designed replacement, with upgraded features. We have redesigned the rear to provide more support to the shocks and more even distribution of stress and pressure. More updates and photos to come in the near future! And a littleĀ surprise.

The Booger gutted, the rear hoop cut away and prepared for the new hoop’s installation.
Larry G welding the new hoop and perfecting the shock mounts, etc.
The Green Booger! We calculated that the Booger has approximately 2,700 hard race miles on it, NOT including our highway miles, pre-run miles, or play/test miles. We figure that the cage is probably due for a rebuild…but not yet.
