A Fender Reborn

Does one wonder what goes on in the life of a Class 11 between races? Fans must see the before and after of a race, and wonder how on earth could a car not only survive, but return to (sort of) pristine condition in time for the next race, even with only three weeks between. Two Larrys would like to give you just a tiny view of what devours so much of our time between races. And in case you were wondering, the Class 11 is a family event, one of which our life is fairly consumed by during the racing season.

In light of the difficult Hawthorne course that ravaged our passenger side fender and finished off the driver’s fender (which was still hurting from the bout with the Xtreme Outlaw 250), we are pleased to bring you before and after photographs of the process of Boogerizing a fender.

The beginning of the sanding with 100 and 150 grit. This fender already had the hideous pink slightly sanded away, the other fender was not and had three layers of paint and primer to go through.
Completely sanded with 400 grit, and a special thanks to Little Larry E for being such a big helper.
Voila! Primered, sanded again with 400 grit, primered again, and ready to visit with our paint guy.
