1914cc Fuel-injected Turbo Bug

1957 VW Beetle Oval Ragtop owned by Brad Martin. Brad contacted TLR for a custom-built turbo-charged 1914 fuel injected engine to put into this bad-boy. TLR provided a 1970 pan, suspension, and IRS transmission from the Green Booger’s parts car Ataboy for this “daily driver.” We will be adding photos throughout the build, which is currently in process. Below are photos of the car throughout its build stages. We lovingly coined the name, “The Great Pumpkin” for it when we saw the Oval after its visit with the paint-man.

May 2014 update – the car had its first photo shoot and car show on May 3rd and 4th. It was a great success – it earned the People’s Choice Award its first time out. Congratulations Brad and Joyce! You can read about that in our blog entry here about the first annual Smith Flat VW meet.

May 2015 update – A huge congratulations to Brad Martin of Placerville, CA and his lovely fuel injected 1914cc turbo-charged oval-window ragtop built by Gary Herrod of Two Larrys Racing. Not only did they make the cover of major European magazine UltraVW in February 2015, but he duplicated the feat in major US magazine HotVW’s for June 2015!
