World Record WW36hp Bug

Bob Dodero – 77.900mph NEW WW36 BUG WORLD RECORD
Wolfsburg West Contingency Award Winner

You may remember our blog posted regarding Bob Dodero’s land-speed WORLD RECORD setting Oval Window with a Gary Herrod/TLR built 36hp engine here: http://twolarrysracing.com/blog/?p=2046

But he certainly deserves a page all for himself on TLR’s site! We are proud to work with this great guy, and be a part of his dream realized.

Bob made it his goal in early 2014 to race at Bonneville in September and break the land-speed world record for the ww36 class in an Oval Window Bug. (There are a lot of classes racing, ww36 is a specific class with specifications for the engine components, etc.) He contacted TLR and German Auto Werks to help him achieve his goal with a Gary Herrod-built motor. We are so pleased and proud that on Sunday, he broke the world land-speed record with his TLR-Gary Herrod-built 36hp motor at 78+ mph! We are very excited for him. Also on Sunday was Bob’s birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bob, and what a great present he gave himself! Bob has already mentioned he plans to defend his title in 2015.

Soon after we received from Bob a write-up written by Burly Burlile himself, organizer of the ww36 class:

“G’day gentlemen

The 2014

World of Speed and VW Challenge Maxx Speed Nats was over the top with 31 different VW race cars. And yes, we had a winner in the WW36 Bug category when Bob Dodero went 77.900 miles per hour to beat the old record set by Kim Slaughter by almost 7 miles per hour. Rob was racing a 1957 Bug with the Wolfsburg West kit and he also owns a second WW kitted 57 Cabriolet. This years WW contingency award could not have gone to a better WW customer. We did not have a winner in the DSS contingency category in 2014.

I am still awaiting address information from Bob and will send it as soon as it arrives.

In the meantime, here are a couple of pics. Please feel free to utilize them in any advertising you wish.

Thanx again for your support and participation in the 36hp Challenge. Watch for Deanos coverage in a future issue of HVW’s.
