So this happened…we really needed this 1956 VW Bus to move on its own so we can utilize that side of the shop. Last weekend we threw a transmission into it (link: http://twolarrysracing.com/blog/?p=2455), and this weekend we threw a 1500S engine we had on a stand into it. The engine hasn’t run in about six years (came to us as just an engine), and the Bus hasn’t move on it’s own in about fifteen years. Let’s hope the transmission is actually good hahaha. No muffler on it gave a pleasant side-effect of flames and popping that we could startle the kids with. And that is always fun.
Two Larrys Racing is pleased to announce we have been working with Kenyon Whetsell of Optimized Motorsports Group to freshen up Stockbug Class 11 #1147 to prepare it for the 2016 racing season. If you would like to see photos of the build, and also updates of the installation when #1147 makes its way to TLR, please navigate the menu above at Projects > Racing Engines > Optimized Motorsports Group #1147 Engine or directly HERE.

CBCFS Racing’s 1/2 1600 buggy prepping for the 2015 Mint 400 at Two Larrys Racing. TLR rebuilt the engine and this video documents some of the prep after installation with CBCFS. It is always such a pleasure to work with this team.
Good luck at the 2015 Mint 400, CBCFS!
Over the last few weeks, we have had the honor of working with Meek Racing on freshening up #1142 and getting her ready for the 2015 season. They are pointing her towards the $10,000 bonus offered in the World Series of Bugs this year, and the first race is SNORE Battle at Primm this coming weekend. Here is some footage of testing from this last week:
We’ve been busy as usual…finishing out the summer/fall projects to welcome the fall/winter projects! Namely, we are pleased to once again be working with Meek Racing #1142 (Dave Meek) and CBCFS Racing #1116 (Paul Nauleau) to assist in their preparation for the 2015 racing season.
But to give everyone a smile on their face today, here is some video of what we did last night. Because sometimes you just need to take a donut break.
This doesn’t have to do with off-road, but it is what’s happening at TLR at the moment. We have a new addition to the family, a four week old Emu chick. I recently added video of her to YouTube. Hope you enjoy!
But didn’t make the ACTUAL meeting. What we did get to see were several cars still practicing and tuning for the season. We did talk to Jim Carius, who is now at the head of VORRA and attempting to get it back on its feet. The schedule we previously posted is now set in stone. The next VORRA meet will be a Prairie City in May. If VORRA is going to continue, it needs racers and volunteers alike to commit and be there. If you cannot bring your own car at the moment, for whatever reason, then volunteer and still be a part of the activities. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get seat time with someone you pit for!
Just remember, being a volunteer and still out there at the race track is a heck of a lot better than sitting at home reading about the race on the computer. 😀 You can’t exactly smell 110 octane through your keyboard. I guarantee you’ll have a great time.
While there, we shot some video of several cars testing on the track. Hope you enjoy!
I just saw the new post at VORRA regarding the meeting. Here is a copy of it:
“Yesterday’s meeting at prarie city went very well! About 50 of vorra’s faithful showed to lend support, make donations, sign up for season memberships and get the skinny on the upcoming year. Lots of info will be coming in the next few weeks. Here’s a cliff notes of the meeting.
Jim Carius is purchasing Vorra from Wes harbor and will promote 5 races this year.( see schedule on here)
Yerington is a no go this year. Things are in the works for next year and beyond.
We need everyone support, as a racer, crew, vorrateers and spectators! $50 get ls you a Vorra membership and entry to all races, including riding and driving.
Pre registration will open ASAP. We need everyone looking to race in May needs to sign up, without enough entry’s the race won’t happen. Keep a eye on here, and Vorra.net for all the details to follow.
Looking forward to a awesome race season!”
